Intrepid Society BBQ 2026

On 25 June 26, IS Board member Lois Mallet hosted another Intrepid Society BBQ for 15 IS members. The BBQ included smokies, hot dogs, potato salad, soft drinks and dessert. Board member Charles Cameron, shown consuming some apple crumble, read a poem he had created as a tribute to Lois for her generosity in hosting many BBQ events.

A Lady named Lois

There lives a Lady, warm and true,
With kindness shining through and through.
Her smile can brighten any day,
And chase the darkest clouds away.
With Irish songs both proud and sweet,
She fills the air with joy complete.
Each note she sings, both bold and clear,
Brings laughter, friendship, and good cheer.
Each Month, she opens wide her door,
To welcome friends forevermore.
A barbecue, a hearty meal,
Where every guest feels warmth that’s real.
The Winnipeg Intrepid knows
The strength and grace that Lois shows.
A faithful Director, loyal and wise,
A treasured friend in every eye.
At Robert Burns, she’s held in high esteem,
A valued member of the Team.
The Royal Military Institute, too,
Is richer for the work she’ll do.
She asks for little, gives so much,
With generous heart, and gentle touch.
Her friendship is a precious art —
A gift that warms each grateful heart.
So here’s to Lois, kind and fair,
Whose love of people fills the air.
May health and happiness be her way,
With blessings growing every day.
For those who’ve met her all agree–
As wonderful a soul as one could see.
A lady rare, both strong and true,
Dear Lois, we are grateful for you.
