SUMMARY:Meet the Daughter of Igor Gouzenko
DESCRIPTION:On 29 November 2023, the Intrepid Society hosted an evening speaker event at Anavets #283 in Winnipeg featuring Evelyn (Evy) Wilson. Evy, born in Canada in 1946, is the daughter of Igor and Svetlana Gouzenko. Igor was a Soviet cipher clerk stationed in Ottawa who defected to the west three days after the end of the Second World War with 109 classified documents.\nApproximately 75 appreciative attendees had the opportunity to hear Evy talk about her youth and growing up with her family in a witness protection program. Intrepid Society President Dwight MacAulay interviewed Evy following the talk with several insightful questions.
